About Our Mission
The Weather Response eXpedition is a volunteer and hobbyist program serving the KWO35 coverage area with vital Emergency Alert information and Weather information.

How does Weather Response eXpedition relay alerts?
Weather Response eXpedition uses 2 Emergency Alert Encoder/Decoders. The setup also includes 3 receivers. When WRXD is streaming, our units are connected to NOAA/NWS frequencies and local FM frequencies that are monitored 24/7 for assuring reliable EAS relay.

Where does WRXD originate from & what locations does it serve?
Weather Response eXpedition originates from New York City, Established in 2020. WRXD EAS Center serves the 5 boroughs in NY which consist of the following counties: Kings (Brooklyn) New York (Manhattan), Richmond (Staten Island), Bronx, Queens. We also serve some weather alerts for select counties that the National Weather Service (KWO35) covers, this can vary.

Does WRXD issue or originate its alerts?
Majority of shared alerts are usually received and relayed by local and high authorities, WRXD does NOT issue unauthorized or unofficial alerts. The only time WRXD issues alerts is when maintenance is ongoing on the units used (DMO) or when a automatic weekly (RWT) is issued from used units or even when an official EAS alert is received. WRXD EAS Center does NOT relay alerts on official or private frequencies, and is online based only. It is a important reminder that EAS tones and signals contain vital information and can cause catastrophic damage if not used in an appropriate way.
